Mike Liguori, a creative, kind, funny, and incredibly loving soul, passed away September 17, 2019, after complications related to a GI cancer that he had been battling for over six years.
Mike is loved beyond measure and he will be truly missed.
Mike loved pasta with red sauce, the movie Old School, the musical piece Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, photographing the natural wonders of Colorado, creating beautiful music, Avs hockey, CU football, and NY Yankees baseball. He learned to appreciate the Eddie Bauer fleeces that his mom gave him.
Michael Lloyd Liguori was born in Anchorage, Alaska. Soon after, his family moved to Morristown, NJ, where Mike graduated from Morristown High School in 1995. He was captain and a goalie of the ice hockey team, and also played baseball, was in the marching band, orchestra, and the honor society. Mike graduated in 1999 from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in geology but later returned to CU to pursue degree in music. He worked as a freelance writer before transitioning to video production at both University of Colorado and Colorado State University. His true passion was writing, producing, and performing his own music and lyrics, which he did as part of several bands in the Denver area, including the Michael Lloyd band and the Film Dailies. In the summer of 2012, after crossing paths around CU Boulder but never meeting, Mike met his future wife, Jessica, with whom he spent 7 cherished years together. They were married Dec 12, 2014 in the foothills of Boulder, witnessed by a fox.
Mike was a very loving, thoughtful, and hard-working man, and an enormous supporter of his wife Jessica and her career in science. Their time together was entirely too short, but they built a life together in Boulder, Denver and finally Fort Collins. They adopted a ridiculous dog, and eventually were blessed with little Elsa on May 3rd this year.
Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, artistic talents, and determination to improve himself; his emails were legendary and would leave you laughing for days. Below you can find links to many of his songs and videos.
Mike was a loyal friend, a loving son, brother, nephew, and husband, a dedicated teammate and bandmate, a creative genius with film and audio production, and most recently, a doting father. Mike spent his last months taking beautiful photographs of his beloved daughter. Mike is survived by his wife Jessica and daughter Elsa; his mother and father, Penny and Al; his sister, Lindsey; his aunts, Nancy, Gerry, and Mary Liguori; and his uncles Richard and Larry; as well as the ridiculous dog Sydney. Mike passed away at home surrounded by his incredibly supportive family, including his parents who helped care for him during the final challenging months. The family wants to thank the dedicated health care workers who helped Mike over the years, especially nurse Nunu at Porter Hospital, nurse Rindy from Columbine Home Health, nurse Missy and Dr. Julie from Pathways palliative and hospice care, and pharmacist Leah from Amerita. The family asks you to consider donating in honor of Mike to the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (ACPMP) Research Foundation. https://acpmp.org/mike-liguori May you rest in peace dear Mike.
